Oil Filter Help

Hi,
I have a 2001 MK2 Clio and have recently decided to do al the servicing myself.

The engine is a 1.2 16V and I cannot find where about the oil filter is located - none of the engines in the Hayes manual correspond to the engine or filter I have.

The filter I bought looks more like an airfilter as it has no protective case and I cant find the engine number as I have no plate on the front of the engine where the handbook says it is.

Basically I was hoping someone could tell me where the oil filter is located and how difficult it is to replace since it does not appear to be a standard type.

Its down the front of the engine between the radiator from memory.

take the front drivers side wheel off and you get perfect access to it (noticed this last time i had my wheel off)

EDIT: just read your full post, mine is a cylinder type filter, thats the only way i know how to describe it!

Thanks for all the help - just found ou the eingine number for my car and its a D4F type engine.

The Hayes manual I have doesnt seem to describe very well the process of removing and replacing the filter.

This is similar to the oil filter I have.

Is it quite simple to change and is access possible by taking off one of the wheels?

Anyone - In particular I was wondering how difficult the job is on a car with this engine.

take off the front drivers side wheel

you'll see the oil filter in front of you (black plastic tube with veins on it)

remove it by twisting anti clock wise

pull out old filter element (i lever it out with a screw driver)

pop in new one, and replace rubber "O" rings

when fitting new filter element, it should sit flush with the top of the filter holder, if it doesn't, push it in harder!!

put it all back together

Job done

30min job

Thanks Fred - Its just I was reading on ther other threads about how difficult some of the oil filters are to change - this one sounds ok.
