oil for 172

just a quick question.ive now done 5k miles with my 172 engine in and im changing the oil to keep it nice and clean.last time i used fully synthetic 5w40 but the guy in the shop just sold me castrol magnetec fully synthetic 10w40 will this oil be ok or is it too thick/thin?thanks

well its going in now.i think it will be ok if im right in saying the lower the first number the better it is in the cold and its flipping boiling out now so bargain!.lol

yeah i do it on my car every 10-12K (of just before a trackday if needs be)

modern oil is designed for long service intervals, but changing it too often isn't a bad thing (apart from to your wallet!)

oh rite tidy.yeah with my engine only having 16k miles on it id rather keep it nice.think ill leave it for about 6-7k miles next tho
