A decent brand fully synthetic, and I would aim for something with a fairly thick hot viscosity personally, like a 10W50 for example.

Yeah that would be fine for me, although oil is an emotive subject and others will disagree.

you could ask opie oils for advice.

I would go for 5w50. Same cold properities but better at high temp for the turbo.

Comma 5w50 synthetic is a good oil and very well priced. Although something like Millers CFS with a very high temp resistance helps with the peak temps encountered in the turbo core.

It would help to run an oil cooler.

Youve got the wrong way around mate, 5 is the cold bit and 50 is the hot bit. thats why I said to go for a 50 in the first place, so its better at hot (I actually run 10w60 in mine at the moment as no oil cooler currently)

5 or 10 are both fine on these engines the tolerances arent mega tight.

I meant the same cold properties as standard oil but better at high temp :) so not wrong, just left the word standard out.

Compared to Motul 300v it's not too bad. I'm using it in mine just now. No point in spending a lot on an engine then scrimping on the fluids IMO.

I like the 300v, have used that a lot.

Currently using Gulf though which is a fair bit cheaper despite on paper looking a similar spec, the problem with oil is unless you use 2 different types back to back for 20,000 miles of very scientific testing you are highly unlilkely to really know which is working best, so its a bit of a leap of faith really.

One thing I will say though is that when using a normal oil on my old mk1 track car which had no oil cooling the oil pressure was really low at 140 degrees oil temps, but with 300v it was still good.

I've used it too for many years on both the clio and my P1 but swapped recently due to the spiraling cost of it. Think they are taking the pi5s a bit now so stopped using it. So far I like the Nanodrive and so will continue to use it and monitor temps in different situations.
