Oil level

Hi folks, I have recently bought a 182 with 60k on the clock. The oil level warning on the dash was saying
that it was empty. I put a litre in last night but couldnt check the dipstick (mainly because it was dark and I couldn't find the fucker) I have driven about 25 miles this morning and after leaving he car to cool down for about 20 minutes I checked the dipstick and it's showing f**k all on it!

My question is, from empty would a litre of oil register on the dipstick or have I got a serious f**king oil leak???

Cheers
Ron.

0 on the dipstick isn't good. fill it up before driving again, and check it again when it's cooled down.

Filled it up this morning until it was showing full on the dipstick. Drove about 60 mile round trip and just checked the oil
again. It's still showing as being full up! I also put a large piece of cardboard under the engine to see if there were any leaks but its completely clean. So it's a mystery as to why when I put a litre of oil in last night it showed f**k all on the dipstick??? Think I might write into Ripleys believe it not telly programme.

maybe because it was a litre below the dipstick to begin with, which would worry me. Poor maintenance likely.
