oil pressure on a valver

i have a 1.8 16v, and the oil pressure gauge is at bout 1 bar when ticking over. then goes up to 3-4bar when i accelerate ( depending on harshness of acceleration ) what should it be at on tickover ? as it can go low sumtimes. i spose it could be the bottom end worn which is letting the oil pressure down, its done 138k

We talking about cold start pressures or nomral runnign temp?

Cold start:
Idle ~ 3Bar
3k Rpm ~ 6Bar

Running temp:
Idle ~ 1Bar
3kRpm ~ 3Bar

Although lots of things can affect what the dial shows such as oil used, oil filter and also the condition/accuracy of the pressure sensor itself.

Tbh they aren't the most reliable things every. Mine used to be really random.

hmm. mite get a new gauge nd sender. im going to be changing the oil ( complete change ) and the filter in the not to distant future. ill see what it does then
