Oil temp guage

I was driving around at the weekend when my oil temp guage just dropped to zero, then the car started revving at 2000 rpm (presumably coz the ecu was thinking the engine was freezing)

Has anyone seen this before? Is it likely to be the oil temp sensor or something wrone in the ecu??

the coolant temp sender informs the ECU of the engine op temp not the oil.

More than likely a wire or somethign snapped/fell off.

Just got my baby back with a bright shiny new coolant temperature sensor, oh and Renault matched Kwik Fits price for an oil and filter change of £34
