On the Band Wagon - Polishing

  Evo VI Tommi Makinen
Had to jump on the band wagon. Decided I wanted to polish the fuel rail guard on my RS-1. Used 180, 240, 400 & 600 grit wet n dry and came up with this after 3 hours work.

Got badly fooked off with sore fingers and quite a few cuts and a messy living room.

I got pi**ed off with trying to polish it up myself after 3 hours.
So decided to nip down to the local Metal finishers in Netherfield near where I live to see how much they would charge to produce a mirror finish.

The guy looked at it, asked what finish I wanted, I said mirror.
He said hang on a sec. Went away, came back about 3 mins later with the Fuel rail guard and one of the sides was like a mirror.
He said is that what you are after, I said absolutely. So I said how much to do the whole thing. He casually said and I quote "A Tenner"

So I will be picking the polished baby up on Saturday morning and can't wait.
Will possibly be letting him do the inlet manifold too.

Once I see the final product and put the pics up I will let you midlanders know the details of where to get it done.

Cheers

No worries Scott, Judging by the results in a couple of minutes I saw from this guy at the Metal finishers I went too. It seems pointless to go out and buy wet n dry paper, Autosol etc when he does the whole thing for a tenner.

I'm sure He would love the business for any work offered. I did ask about alloy wheels but he said they were a ball ache so will have to go elsewhere for that.

getting a shop to do it is cheating!!! lol ;)

Sing it, But the deep hole I have gouged in my finger means I can't do anything with the Fuel Rail. Until my finger heals. Dont even know how I did it. One of those cuts you see afterwards and think that wasnt painful, lol.

Oh and it's costing a tenner... cough cough
