I need 2x tie rods, 2x track rod ends and 2 lower ball joints for my ph2 172 on an 02 plate.. I have not checked Renault, assuming they are available... Firstly does anybody know Renault prices, but most importantly are there any pattern options available? Obviously not cheap qh s**t.. Any decent quality options? Cheers

roughly £42 for each of the parts. so about £160ish for the set

3 different racks though, so you need to know which you have

whats that renault mate? typical being 3 racks... that should make finding pattern ones a laugh. euros do some quite nice lemforder and etc parts.. might have a crack at finding some replacements:S

yeah thats genuine parts. I think the SMI rack is the most common, but you still need to check.

I was advised only to use genuine Renault track rods and had to identify the rack first, there was a sticker on it which was just hanging on!

Can confirm my 52 plate 172 has an smi rack

ok while the clever people are around... are knocks from actually inside the rack common?? i have a knock when rocking steering.. tie rods have slight play and trackrod ends are actually ok.. could be the tie rods but i think the knock is actually inside?

it's normally the inner ends of the track rods if everything else is ok

ball joints come with the arms, iirc around £60 each
steering arms about £47iirc each
ends around £40 iirc each

thats genuine.

i did all the parts you want to do on yours for £60 ish non gen on the mrs dci

Track rods made a huge difference on mine, slight play would have passed an mot no problem, changed them and tightened the handling up brilliantly.

i found some lower ball joints seperate from the arms through euro parts.. just the rods and ends left. mine arent fail worthy (im a tester myself) but the knock does my head in!!

Euro's also sell the tie rods.

pm maynard, all 172 use the smi rack, cups and 182's is dealer only
