Ongoing 172 problems

Ive been having misfiring problems and juddering when car is idling when warm....been back to renault, they reckon they cant find any faults and have changed plugs...still misfired....on new yrs eve the car broke down, got recovery out and they said the fuel pump was on its way out,he banged the petrol tank and car started,so it went back to renault,now they reckon they have changed the fuel pump....still got a very slight misfire,but now i got a wierd noise coming from the drivers side of engine bay,sounds like a scratching noise..what could the misfire be, and what is the noise...also car to me dosent fel as fast as it should...im running out of patience with it now.....

and help greatly appreciated

how much do these cost because i might aswell just buy one myself instead of the clowns at renault....aklso would a faulty coilpack show up on diagnostic??

the scratching noise sounds like your cambelt tensioners...get it sorted ASAP...

mine did this to the point it would no longer start, replaced coil pack, plugs and leads and is running fine, well it would be if someone hadn't reversed into it last week, but you get the jist!

yes its coming from that area...back to garage again me thinks!

right then,this morning i fitted a brand new coil pack..i checked the plugs,a little dirty, but to be fair look fairly new...not sure on leads,they look original..might change them next....still got a slightly lumpy idle..and performance is lacking big time....any other ideas would be good..thanks
 
I'd get a computer plugged in ancd check the lambeda readings and get the ecu fault codes checked.

then check the throttle body for dirt etc then check your air filter

itsn been to renault and they said no errors had been registered....ive ordered a piper x induction kit...il give the tb a lean to...whats the best thing to use??also, do 172`s idle slightly lumpy anyway??or am i being fasr to picky and want things perfect/

Depends its difficult to know what people accept as ok.

just use some carb cleaner and stuf should be able to see if it needs it.

am i right in thinking the TB is the the section with the butterfly flap in it that connects to air box?
