ooops...broke my 182...

battered a kerb sideways...front right...

drivers airbag blew up..(piece of shite)...

now i think i have buggered up my steering rack as the wheel is at 60degree's to go straight..my esp light is constantly on, so i think that musta jarred sumthn loose..
when i drove it home...it was like driving on ice..car wouldnt go in a straight line...and when u let go of the wheel...

it nose-dives to the right...

ive looked under the wheel arches and i cant see anything bent or jiggered...

but the wheels when looking at the front appear to slant inwards, as if something important has snapped..

/ \ like that but not as much an angle...

im takin it to the dealers...

does anyone know wot i may have wrecked.? steering rack/column/esp/whole car..??

  BMW M6 & 172 Phase 1
Can't help you mate, but does sound like something pretty major is broken.

I also really don't think you should have driven home, how could you be sure your car wouldn't suddenly veer into oncoming traffic?:S

  Burgandy 174 sport t
trackrod ends wishbone strut!! oh and be prepared to be raped at the dealer, a seat and airbag etc will cost u nearly 2k to be fitted then u will need the mechanical s**t I mentioned.

Imo dont go near the dealer get the bits and get a garage to fit it all cheaper than reno

f**k the airbag...

i knew that anyway...

i was quite competent to drive home actually...im not really into veering into oncoming traffic..plus it was early hours and the roads where dead...

but i dont even need to justify it...(my car, i can do what i want) ive seen peole driving SHEDs....take them off the road first...

ahhh bugger...

piece of shite

  1.6 Astra ... R.I.P. 182
Ouch !!

did the same in my saxo off a roundabout  ... altough thats considerably cheaper to repair it still cost me £1500 and that was someone i knew ! lol

sounds like the lower suspension wishbone thingy (cant remember what its called) ha. gonna need a new wheel or 2 too and the airbag bit is expensive too as iain says.

speaking of fucked my exhaust fell off last night .... f**king arnold clark

i hit the drivers side...

im gonna book it in and see what these fannies find wrong...

the wheels are kerbed to feck...but no cracks or buckles...

might do that ian...or i'll have to re-morgage...haha

my exhaust is the only bit that HASNT fell off...

gutted...

i was such a great driver...i managed to re-gain control of the car and...blah blah blah...

aye...bit shite...but...could have really fucked it....

ach well....skinto for christmas now...

track rod end..??

ive jacked the car up...? is this noticable..?? i cant se anything amiss so thot it would be something underneath the tray...

  Black Twingo GT
Curbed mine, front and rear in October (lost it coming out of a roundabout driving like a tit) bent everything on the passenger side:

Bend rack, Stub axle smashed, bearings, rear arm, both wheels, Rear ABS sensor, Brake disk at rear broke in half, blah blah. A couple of grands worth of damage.

If its just the front, you may be lucky. If its bent the rack they can fit a 1/2 rack on the clio.

I had no passenger in the car and there was no body impact but the pre-tensioner went off on the passenger seat anyway....that cost another £500 to get fitted from Renault as they are the only ones that can do them really, they have the correct diagnostic stuff and can reset you engine management lights etc.

If your airbag has gone off theres a good chance you will need an airbag computer...if you need any prices etc I can get hold of my reciept cos I'll bet you a pound to a pinch of sh*t anything you need will be on there!

I did a similar thing, was the track rod end. Cost 80 quid to replace all the bits that were broken at a local garage and I had to go and get the tracking etc done at Kwik Fit.

insurance company can get to feck...

lets face it...i will end up paying hell of a lot more in renewals...

cheers dan, will be getting the bill tomorow for it...i may have to give you a PM...

im hoping the seatbelt things didnt go off as it wasnt a frontal impact...

i dont think the bearings have went as i dont hear any noise...im pretty sure the wheels are at some kinda angle..as when driving it back the left wheel was screetching...

the esp light is worrying however...

im pretty sure all damage is to the front hopefully...

drop it tom at bollockshaws road...

the one you hate im sure??

plus ive still got my 10percent discout card for parts...wooooohoo

  tiTTy & SV650
gotta hate the bollockshaws mob!

good luck getting it fixed without breaking the bank, hope its nothing major.

i will post up the damage as soon as i get the phonecall...

heres hoping its nothing more that a scuffed alloy...

ahem

So much for the strengthened hubs lol, assuming you have cup packs? Hope it gets sorted, these things are never cheap.

Did the same in my old saxo to the right rear and it smashed a kerb. Was £900 all in including a new 15" supperleggera.

You'll have bust the hub or damaged the ABS plug /ABS ring on the driveshaft.

Hopefully its just new ball joints stearing arsm and maybe arms. Then hopefully just the ABS sensor/ring are damaged and there easy to fix.

Why do you think the airbags a price of s**t? COuld have been somehting to have saved your life?

As regards sorting the airbags out new airbag is cheap. Then sent your airbags computer to a place who can clear the codes is the cheapest option (£60 or so)

You could have damaged the tyre internally just chnage them not worth the risk.

You can tell if the belts go out it damaged the plastic bit they hide under the on the seat.

There not much stronger only stronger to deal with the extra camber the CUP 182 run. The bearing arn't that expensive anyway there only from the RX4 rear's.

hey eddie thanks again for the info...

great help...

i have to applaud the airbag in the seat however...very well engineered..no damage to the seat...just stitching....and it inflated/deflated in seconds...

very helpfull in a side impact im sure...!! bit of annoyance having to get it fixed but thats the price you pay for safety..!

the smell of smoke...that was a suprise however...hehe

Its a weired smell isn't it.

been there done that eh??

at least i know what to expect if it ever happens again...it was a loud bang aswell...

thought i had smashed my rear side window aswell...didnt even see the airbag...musta deflated in seconds..!!

  Saab 93 Aero Wagon
£4286.81....damn...thats a warning to us all! Goes to show how much a damage a mere kerb can do when hit with a bit of velocity.

Was it on wet roads Kiev?
