Car  Whichever has fuel
If i fit one, i understand it will suck in hot air.

If i cut out a a4 sized hole in the bonnet and meshed it with a scoop above it, (Proffesional job in a bodyshop, not some tinsnips) would that aid performance? Or would this just be a nobbish thing to do?

i have just modded the original airbox (removed plastic where second CAF enters original airbox with rivets) and relocated it so that air from the vent at the front of the car (just below headlight) enters directly into the airbox itself. took a while to relocate battery, but seems well worth it.

cant 'prove' the gain in power at the moment but i can honestly say there is a definate improvement

here is a quick diagram to show you what i mean.

ps. if you like the sound of open cone filter, wait till you hear this, makes your car sound like its on throttle bodies.

i just need to replace original paper filter with a decent one just to finish it off.

not really, how often do you find the inside of the engine bay wet? cant say i have ever found this to be a problem on mine anyway.

if your worried you could always just drill out a small drain hole?

suppose i will just have to be a little careful when using the jetwash, or just cover the airbox with a plastic bag when washing it.

Anyone??:D

to be honest, if your worried about heat soak then i wouldnt get an open IK, because your going to get it no matter where you place the filter.

As neil said it would be too much messing around for a little or no gain

Thats alli wanted to know. If there's naff all gain, i'll not bother pissing about with it. Cheers chaps.
