Opinions Needed (Also FAO 1.6 owners)

  BMW M135i
Right, went to look at a 1.6 clio this afternoon and it impressed me no end, everything I like about my clio just with some much needed poke.
Was going to get a yaris t-sport but balls to that i'm staying loyal lol.

Basically what i've been offered on a 2003 1.6 16v Dynamique with 24k miles is:

Price is £6000
They've offered me (well I beat it out of them) £3800 px on my 2001 1.2 16v on 34k.
1yr extended renault warrenty and MOT.

I'm thinking its not too bad especially for a renault garage, just wondering whats peoples opinions of the car and the deal i've been offered ?

PS Also does the 1.6 hit 60 in 2nd, gave it some in 2nd on the test drive but can't remember where it got to was close to 60 at least ?

Hope you like the 1.6 16v Clio?... Its not a bad car I have had my Clio 1.6 16v from new and have only done 4500miles so far (I know its not much, but its just to and from work lol). I have had around 55mph in second gear at about 6k (don't quote me on that).

Its nice and nippy in town driving, but the thing that p's me off is the lack of traction control (I know its nowhere near as fast a 172/182 lol) when trying to get a quick start I end up spending most of my time trying not to wheelspin and it fecking does my head in.

Anyway yes its a nice car and you will love it:) + the fact that its alot rarer than most Clio's.

Doesn't sound to bad a deal but personally I'd spend the extra for a 172/182.

Quite rare the 1.6 they made less than they did 172/182's

according to the speedo it's doing 58 mph on the limiter in second.

just watch the drive shafts don't break lol.

Sounds good, I got a mint 1.6 16v Dynamique from car auction with 24k for 5k. Love it, im only 18 though so the insurance is a pain.

And looking at a 172 wasnt an option at all for me, getting one of similar age, the insurance is a diabolical so the 1.6 is an obvious choice.

price on its own is not THAT good, but with the high px value souds like a good deal :)

  RB 200 Cup!
ive got a 1.6 16v dynamique - 2003 but on 52 plate - cost me 5200 last may

does as follows:

2nd Gear - 60
3rd Gear - 85
4th Gear - 110
%th - have had 115 but will be good i reckon for at least 128 - just never taken it on a motorway yet

try and knock em down cos it sounds a little high imo

^^cool! 131mph

how much of a run up did you need to do that (and im not being rude cos id like to give it a go myself)

  RB 200 Cup!
wind behind you? lol

cool i always fort it would reach that speed - better than some 2 litre bigger cars - respect most high for the 1.6 16v

135mph. Did you wake up with spunk in your hand?

yeah nice one c**k nose.

  ST on the way...
Top car the 1.6, very quick for what it is and from what i've seen very rare! Would highly reccomend to anyone!

Just as much fun as a 172, without the running costs!

Well settled on it and am picking it up next thursday, looking on autotrader its about around the right price for the age/millage without having to travel a massive distance.

172 would have been nice but was simply not an option, only 18 and the best quote i've had is £3500 compared to £800 for the 1.6 no choice really.

Pics will follow on thursday.

Yea Insurance was my problem too. Looked at 172s, but its not like all the owners say 'a little more money' if your 18 u got no chance of getting insured on a decent 1 without paying stupid money. I really want one, but im gonna have to wait til im older and have racked up the no claims, coz im not paying 3k on insurance lol.

Loving my 1.6 tho had it bout 6 months now, and compared to my last car (1.0 polo) it is a definate improvement alround!
