thinking of going to look at this on friday, anyone got any feedback on it, is that a resonable price for year/millage/spec?

looks in good condition and the fact there is a 182 behind it on the drive give the impression the guys probably an enthusiast and looks after his cars!

this could be a stupid theory but as there is a sport in one of the pics, i recon there's a fair chance that someone on here might own that or atleast know who owns it.

quite like it just dont know if its worth paying £3,000 more than what my conversions going to cost me for the pleasure of climate, electric sunroof (rather not have one at all!) and a ph3 front end?! lol

I would go for it as what you have budgeted to do your conversion will cost more there is no doubt looks nice

£400 a month to insure a 172 for me in my own name fully comp, 18, 1yrs experiance 0ncb not paying that lol £1500 for 1.6 16v

jon, £1200 for conversion kit, £300 for oil, filter, airfilter, spark plugs, cambelt, waterpump & clutch. £400 for stainless manifold and decat to link with my stainless exhaust thats already on the car

cant see it costing much more than that as the cars already got new uprated brakes all round, new uprated suspension, new bearings all round, driveshafts, bushes & exhaust

suppose your right in a way - what about labour ? are you doing it all yourself?

ive just seen so many conversions now in my days and all of them have gone over budget.

why not get a kit that has Climate control ? im sure matt could sort you out

yeah all labour being done by myself, mate whos a mechanic helping.

just need to sort something out as ive only gone 3 days without my car now and its killing me so need to get a new car or engine!!

climate/aircon i could do but would rather do without for the extra performance lol plus its a c**t of a job lol

Looks fine, don't like the Ph3 front bumper though. The only benefits are the rear discs, better seat pattern and the silver bits inside.

Wish i'd gone for one with climate and a elecy sunroof now but i'll manage without, have considered chopping mine in for a later model but it'd mostely be a waste of time and money.

If its going to cost you mega money to insure a 172 how much is it going to be to insure a hybrid? presumably similar money?

I don't quite see the point in buying a low mileage 1.6 if you're going to be ripping it apart and putting a 2.0 in there. You might aswell buy a high mileage 1.2 surely?

Carry on with the conversion Martin, thats RS money! You known your car and like you say alot of it has already been uprated. if you have never had a car with climate you wont miss it! You could always buy a shed for a few month whilst your doing the conversion. Find a Micra with some MOT on it and run that for a few months and you could probably sell it on for what you paid, £250 should get one.

im not going to be ripping up the 1.6 to put a 2.0 in it tho, just i blew up my 1.2 and fancied doing something a bit different while im rebuilding it. although thinking about sticking another 1.2 in it and a set of coilovers with the money im about to spend on it untill i can insure a 172 conversion, hmmm not sure lol
