Well i start full time work in less than a month, have no mortgage etc so its all money in my pocket so i can save up for something, but im just concerned about the insurance. anyone insured a 172 at 18 for under 2k fully comp?
Stick with what you got mate....no point in rushing in and wasting loads of money....I personally would never buy a car if the insurance came to over a grand as it's money spending that you will never see again or get anything out of...

haha yeah but I didn't want to say that...tempting fate and all that!
Yes but £2k is alot of money to basically chuck away, you never get anything back from insurance, then £210 tax, £30 mot £200 for service
Guessing as your on'y 18 you wouldn't be earning great money yet (not ment to be offensive)
Your looking at £2500 before buying the car, putting any fuel in it, replacing things that break/wear out (and they do)
Being 18 you should be going out with mates on hol etc
But thats just my opinion.

I spose so, but thats what you pay the insurance for. I can see your point and that.

yup indeedy! just up to the person buying on much they want to spend I guess...
in this case...18 so will prob be about the 2k mark I guess, doesn't have an accident or the car don't get stolen or anything, next year 19, prob about another 1.8k at least, still no accidents or broken into, 20 drops to about 1/1.5k. so thats about 5k spent "just in case" something happens...alot of money to just give away...
just wait till your older mate, It makes more sense financially, do as DrRollo says, spend you money having a bit of fun/holidays etc...
You will have more money than sense if you want to spend 2k to insure a clio.
