set aside at least a whole day. Have axle stands, torx bits 20-55, a 5mm punch, plus normal tools. There is nothing too difficult to this its just futery and annoying plus fairly time consuming. Remove slam panel and radiator, header tank, drive shafts (passenger side dead easy, but drivers side needs a roll pin driven out, use a 5mm punch and hammer), remove downpipe and heat sheild between starter and ex manifold. Take out drivers headlamp, then loosen aux beltensioner with allen key and relieve tension by turning nut clockwise. Undo bolts and mounts from alternator and take it out through whole where headlamp was. Undo gearlinkage, at very end (not clamp on linkage but end connector). Undo hoses and remove auxillary water pump. Undo power steering fluid pipes at reservior and where it connects just above front of subframe. Remove engine part of dogbone gearbox link and then pop out speedo cable from just above it. Starting underneath at lambda sensor disconnect wiring plug and follow all the connectors back from this, labelling as you go (theres loads so some labels help), Once all wiring is undone and pushed to side, check for anything left. Undo clutch cabel and throttle cable and place to the side. Get a decent hoist and take weight, then undo the engine mounts. Its is a tight fit, double check that everything thats needs to be is dissconneted. Try keep engine as far forward as possible and lift, while manouvering it about (you wont manage this yourself so get help), once you manage to get it clear of chassis legs, nip underneath and undo fuel lines where they connect just under bulk head, then continue lifting engine/box up and over and drop onto a few pieces of wood. I have probably missed somethings as doing this from memory, but any specific questions give us a shout, refer to haynes manual and take your time. Let us know if you want pics or if I can help you with anything else. I was a tad apprehensive about doing this, but it turned out not that bad, defo time consuming though. I also used this websitre for reference:
