how do you check the status of a message, i.e opened, deleted, forwarded etc.

i dont think you can.

you can try and delete a unread message you have sent someone by openeing the email in sent items and going to actions and trying to recall the message

as I said you cant. when you send an email you can send a confirmation of receipt so you know the other person has recieved it.

As above or you can have read receipts but the user doesn't have to send them. Also delivery receipts that is handled by the server.
