P**sed with Power Zone

not, happy...

i had today booked off as i was going to Power Zone this morning to get my ecu re-mapped / superchipped - only to be told after waiting around for an hour and a half that it couldnt be done . I had been in contact with Power Zone twice to confirm that my Clio - mkII 1.6 16v 03 could be done and again to confirm the date and model of Clio. The Superchips website clearly shows that my Clio can be done so ive emailed superchips for an explination and will post later...

Just letting off some steam....

yeah...im just p**sed that they didnt confirm either way on the phone before i booked the day off and wasted petrol and time driving over there.

yeah they are not too helpful there. Wouldnt take my K&n back, said i did not notice any power gains, and were really sh*tty about it on the phone with me. Started laughing at me actually

I bought a "Bluefin" unit for my Mondeo direct from Superchips...£299 and 12-14bhp increase on the standard 168bhp.

E-mailed them beforehand asking for availability details...was told itd upgrade OK. Checked their website "Mondeo 97 onwards" it said. When I ordered I stated in my order, which was by e-mail that it was for a 2001 Mondeo.

The unit arrives, I hook it up, follow the instructions to download the old map then upload the new map and all I get on the screen is "PCM not responding".

So I phone them up direct to find out whats wrong and get asked "is yours a new shape Mondeo?"..."Umm, yes, you know it is, I said so in the order...", "Oh, it doesnt work on the new shape Mondeo yet". W***ers!

For me though it all happened during my lunch hour...bad luck mate. I wouldnt hold out much hope of anything by way of compensation...I had to send the unit back recorded delivery...and politely but firmly put in a letter that I wanted the postage charge refunded as well as it was their error. Did they refund it? You already know the answer to that one!

Superchips response....

Hello,

Today I took a day off work to get my car superchipped by one of your recommended fitters, Power Zone, (Mini Sport Ltd.) Thompson St., Padiham - only to be told that my car couldnt be superchipped. I had called Power Zone on more than one occasion to confirm the fitting and that my car could be done. It also states on your website that you can supply superchips for:

Renault Clio/Megane/Scenic 1.6 16V +8 bhp £293.75

However, Power Zone seem to think that this is incorrect and my car cannot be chipped. Please can you confirm for me that either the website has misleading information, or Power Zone have got it wrong. If it is Power Zone that are wrong, please can you let me know where my nearest fitter is to get my car superchipped. I am not pleased at booking a day off from work for nothing and suggest if my car cannot be superchipped, that it be taken off the website as not to mislead other potential customers

Many Thanks,

Hello Darren
Thanks for the email

No mention of an apology for misleading me then .....? :(

Hi Mike, from the Superchips response it appears they dont currently have a re-map for my model. I rekon i might try Hill Power instead...has anyone had one of these ?

Hill Power Modified Chip.

MC01
All of our Renault modified chips are developed and programmed in house on our Superflow engine dynomometer and have been mapped for optimum performance and engine safety by revising both the fuelling and ignition maps, giving power gains of approx 10/12 bhp All subsequent chip upgrades included in higher spec engine modifications, (provided the upgrade work is undertaken by us) are £35-00. Chip price includes fitting and rev limiter increase where appropriate.

Did you expect to see much of a gain?!

well both...

Superchips for putting the wrong info on their web site, and Power Zone for confirming it could be done when i specifically asked them on two seperate occasions before booking it in...

Theyll just be going off the info Superchips provide, so like you checked the website to see if it was possible, the guys at PowerZone will probably have looked at a similar list...

Both to blame though as PowerZone should really have checked for sure!

Powerzone have done things like with me, usually a case of writing info down wrong. But when they do the work, they have always seen me right

Darren, speak to london superchips, they are different to a normal superchip dealer, they might just be able to do it!!!!

where it the point of chipping which is basically a slow car. it won;t make much of a difference and will increase your innsurance.

I had a problem with Powerzone - They are Magnex dealers, I asked them to take a look at my knocking exhaust but after putting it up on the ramp they told me it was too low and because of this it was knocking on the rear swing arm!! Only 35mm! Magnex disagreed and said they allow for up to a 40mm drop. Took it to my local garage who fixed it.........pile of ****!
