Pads and discs....

  ITB'd MK1
Not a bad shout Danny. Brings me to my next point actually, lol.... When I touch the brake pedal, not going to full on brake, just to feather them, the pedal seems to "twang" and I can feel it under my foot. The braking isn't affected though in any way. All the caliper bolts ar tight, the braided line unions are tight and the pads are in correctly.... Any ideas??

pad moving in the caliper? doesn't take much for a bit of a twang to happen, strip down, clean and re-grease in the right places and with or without appropriate shims. Can't remember which pads you have but IIRC valver uses same pads as 1.9 205 gti, in which case I found Autodelta blue sintered pads to be excellent. Going to try the Galfer pads that are in Bex RSI in my 1.6 at next pad change, but they're different fitment to the valver and 1.9 (girling/bendix/lucas fitments seem to vary with very little consistent pattern)

mini-valver

Valver and Willy brakes are the same as all the 16v Mk2's. Will have to look into discs and pad combo's that Williams/Valver owners use as £500 on 4pots is expensive!

Ktecs big brake kit worth a look in?
I've used the seupi and IMo its not good its more a look setup for the money you can do better,.
i expect u had some cheap crap like halfords discs and pads, genuine r good enough for a 1.6
Halfords disks arn't rubish there fine.

The ferrdo pads halfords sell are fine for 995 of owners even on track.

IMO if you do need an upgrade use new fluid and a set of ds2500's. But unless you track loads forget it,.
