Paint cracking on my 182 bonnet

  FF BG 182
I have noticed that my bonnet has began to develop 4 or 5 hairline cracks in the paintwork. Is this normal or has the bonnet been repaired at some point and it's due to paint or filler shrinkage?
Sorry for the crappy quality photos but you can see that they are not usual scratches as the seem to branch off too

Thats most likely been repaired at some point, my money would be on a paint reaction being the cause......

here would be a nice list of paint defects!....

Origin and Potential Causes:
  • Excessive film thickness. Excessively thick topcoats magnify normal stresses and strains which can result in cracking even under normal conditions.
  • Materials not uniformly mixed.
  • Insufficient flash times between coats.
  • Incorrect use of additives.
  • Substrate is too hot or cold.
  • Use of coats incompatible with each other.
  • Omitting the activator when mixing a 2K product.

Thanks for the info! It's not that much of a worry to me but it's just slightly annoying.

Would a bonnet from a different car be a good paint match only being an 04 plate car? Or would it be a case of just getting the original bonnet sprayed? Don't really want to spend a fortune as it's not essential really

If you got anouther BG bonnet match will be fine, assuming its a factory finish on new bonnet. If you used your current bonnet it would have to be stripped right back and totally refinished, which will be expensive.
