painted front wings

  330Ci cab
an observation i have made since i started looking for a clio sport, is that the front wings 'appear' to be a different shade, darker in the day and lighter at night. has anybody else noticed this? :S

i looked at a 172 cup in silver and steered clear because of the wings, a monaco blue 182 and again, wings a different shade. bought my 182 in titanium and low and behold.....

now, it cant be due to smashes as mine is HPi clear, and there are a few on here too, as there is a LY that has the same colour changing wings.
so im wondering if its just me, or have others noticed it too? and its just the wings, not the bonnet or bumper. bewildered! lol

Simple and boring explanation for this. The front wings, mirror covers and roof gutter covers are all plastic and the paint adheres to them slightly differently to the other metal panels. That's all it is.
You should see them under bodyshop lighting!

  RB 182
I cant say I've noticed it too much on my RB 182

I think it tends to be more noticeable in silver than any other colour

  Focus Tit Est & R26
never noticed it on black/gold but is1 is right its down to the materials and different primers used

It's because the wings are plastic and the doors are metal, always going to be a slight difference in colour, just the way the paint etc takes to the material. Also the way the wings are shaped makes it more noticeable as they start to flare out and the light is hitting it differently. The more you look for it the more you'll see it, like the bumpers never quite matching the quarter panels 100% either.

  clio 172 cup 2003
yes my iceburgh silver cup is the same but it depends on sunlight and direction its because the wings are plastic

if you mop the car and polish it with something called carranuba nut oil or was it mer it will be so shiney ya wont notice lol

  Petrol Blue 182
(Nerd Info) The metallics in paint sit different on plastic than on metal, on metal they sit up straight. On plastic they sit at a slight angle. Thats why the shade always look slightly different.
