Hiya.

Im going to paint my old rusty drums black tomorrow / saturday. So far I have;

Black smooth hammerite
Wire Brush
Paintbrush

Anything else I should need? Sandpaper maybe? :) Also, any idea how long to leave between coats/ putting wheels back on.

Thanks

That should be fine, shouldn't need sandpaper as the wire brush should get all the rust off, unless you want them totally smooth lol. Also I wouldn't paint the actual face where the drum meets the wheel as, if the paint wears off it could cause the wheel bolts to come loose..

I'd leave them over night without the wheels on, then re fit the wheels the next day. Give them two or three coats too.

once you have wire brushed them i would use brake cleaner and wipe to remove excess dust before painting.
