Parrot Bluetooth Car kits and GPS

dk

What with the new car I thought I might treat myself to a bluetooth car kit and i started having a look around and parrot seem to do some good ones.

I particularly like this one as it has a colour screen and also acts as a GPS receiver for my tomtom with my N73 so will kill 2 birds with one stone.

Anyone got any experience of them? I think its a good price too.

No, but I have one of the older Parrot kits in my Williams, and it works really well (once you position the microphone right!)

the screened one you can now get with a detachable display so you can take it out when you leave your car top quality kits these are :)

Nah, I didn't.

If you have tomtom on then it will interupt the radio and by the time it's done so you've missed the start of what is says.

You can't easily turn off Parrot so as you have bluetooth on for tomtom, you have 2 connections, one to each. if you depair with parrot, it keeps saying please pair device.

I was thinking of plumbing in a switch to turn parrot off but then when you get a call, it'll not be on handsfree.

Only solution really is to mute the radio while tomtom is on. That way you dont get the start of each sentence chopped off and you still have it paired to parrot.

my dad recently put a similar parrot product in his car to go with his blackberry and it is mint works just as good as the built in bluetooth in my pioneer h/u

hhhm, thats frustrating, was banking on this being a good solution.

If I have the tomtom on i still need to be able to answer calls, if i have a separate bluetooth unit like i have now i'm going to have 2 connections aswell so its a no win by the sounds of it unless the GPS version of the parrot is different and designed to specifically do this, might need to email parrot to see what they say

You will still be able to answer calls as it would still come up with the caller and screen. It'd probably crash tomtom though. I could try it out and see.

To be fair, I rarely use it as tomtom whereas the Parrot is on always when I drive.

If I think on, I'll try it out this way tomorrow and report back.

(not sure if you thought you couldn't but you can have two active bt connections)
