PC Graphics Cards.

I currently have a Nvidia GeForce 7800 GTX
If I wanted to upgrade the graphics would I be better getting another card the same and running them SLI or upgrading to possibly something like the 9600GT 1GB as a single card.
Are there any specific advantages of running 2 cards instead of one?
