What sort of age TV is it? Most new (Ish) TV's output Pal and NTSC?

Depends if your graphics card is Intel, ATi or Nvidia on how yo can fiddle with the settings. The easiest way is to download the Manual for your laptop. Would give you step by step Instructions in there

It's probably in the BIOS. Is the TV-out on your graphics card S-Video? Is your TV S-Video capable?

So many questions. Get Tom round, he'll sort it for you. ;)

yes it is svideo capable, my brother bought it of ebuyer i think, and yes its a pretty new tv, 28" beko widescreen thing, we plugged it into the main lg tv and it was in colour but the picture was fuzzy, no detail, but ive plugged it in the beko 1 and the pic is perfectly sharp but no colour

Change setting on the TV then. Turn on S-Video on the Scart function. Probs somewhere under Picture settings Menu on the TV

LOL at people logging themselves off. The shortcut to the system is Windows and Pause/Break though. It's perfectly safe.
