Or a mobile plugged into your usb?

I did that once. Had my phone plugged in by usb to recharge. It auto mounts the SD card when it detects a USB signal, I rebooted my PC, then it tried to boot from the SD card in my phone :S

Took me half an hour to figure it out. I had the case off and everything.

get into the BIOS/CMOS by either pressing F1 F2 etc at the boot up screen, scroll along to boot and check what order it is, if youve got nothing plugged into your comp and no disc in the drive then put your hard drive to boot first and see if that fixes it

how many hard drives are you running?

2 hard drives and a back up one (2x 250gb and a 10gb back up?)

in the end i reinstalled windows, but now got this issue:

Right had some horrific issues, in the end i re installed vista. Its all fine, wiped everything but i cannot connect to the internet!

When I diagnose the issue i get the following:

"This computer does not have a wireless network adapter installed and configured"

Well duh, obviously, im trying to connect through a WIRED connection, ive tried bypassng the router and going straight from the modem but that didnt work, And i know the ISP is ok cause im on it now with my laptop!

any ideas

Was it a system recovery disk or a clean install of windows? If it was a clean install of windows you will need to go on another computer and download the mainboard/inbuilt network card drivers for the ethernet port to work.
