But mine isnt normal You can use google to look up a explanation of the file just type its name in Quotes. if it comes up as being Ad/Spy/Mal ware Remove it by going to start > run type 'msconfig' goto start up

if you type the processes names into google you will get an explanation of what it is, removing them from the task manager won't do anything long term however, what you really need to do is remove them from startup, to do this : Start > Run > type 'msconfig' goto 'Startup' and remove them from that list.
So if i can get rid of all the one's i don't need to be running will my computer run any faster?Some of them appear to be the same thing up to four times. I'l try google then thanks.
Gareth i was searching for a guide on how to do what you just explained earlier so thanks. I have to many applications that try and open when i start up and it takes about ten minutes for it to load them all!

Under the startup tab in msconfig, you don't actually need any of these for the computer to run so don't be scared to switch 'em off. Just re-enable them if you find you're missing something, like your virus scanner. Rather than using the services tab I would go to start->run and type "services.msc" as this will usually give you a decription of the service and what it does. There's a fair whack of stuff you can disable, even from the standard MS services. Google for some guides. You should be able to slim things down to around 20 processes without being too extreme. You will save loads of memory, your computer will start faster and run more reliably so defo worth it.
I went into them both and on the startup tab i disabled them all.
When i restarted everything started working straight away definetly much better i did get some message about are you sure you don't want to restore it back to the way it was though?
I still have 31 processes running but most of them seem to be things to do with window that it says i shouldn't terminate.
Can anyone recommend a good way of trying to get some of the junk out my computer without having to install all my programs again?

I've got AVG and Ewido anti-spyware which seem to work well what i was thinking of was along the lines of a system restore but back to the start if you get me.
I know that i can clear the whole thing back to like new but i don't have the windows discs handy. I'm pretty sure on my old pc i managed to restore it all but still keep my programs just can't remember how....any ideas?
