Peace & Quiet: £350 for stainless stealth exhaust or £50 for a second hand standard?

Going to tie in my next service with changing the exhaust of my 172 with putting a stealth/quieter exhaust on it.

I’m baulking at the price of the k-tech/yozza stealths – nearly 10% of the price I paid for the car!

I was attempting to go second hand but there are no yozza’s second hand and the k-techs seem to go for £250ish – which seems too much for a non warranted second hand system. I also have concerns about how noisy the k-techs are reputed to be (wanting quiet)

For the cash I am tempted by a low mileage second hand standard exhaust – seen them for about £50.

Will I regret it? What’s wrong with the standard system?

I am assuming that any power gain in the k-tech/yozza is negligible?

if it was possible i'd always use standard

I recently splashed out on a new Ktec system. My only advice if you dont want a loud one pay the little extra for the full system like i did.

The "super sports" while cheaper will be louder than the "sports" system.

The only thing wrong with the standard system is it doesnt last too long. There is no real performance gain from fitting after market, i'd even put good money on some losing power.........

You get something like a 6yr warranty or whatever it is for the same price if not slightly cheaper than paying Renault for a standard system that will rot away in under 3yrs? No brainer!

Yeah sorry wrong link. Same applies to stealth systems though as they too have a sports/super sports variation.

I agree that hundreds on a standard is a waste.

There aren't many 2nd hand standard exhausts about. They all drop to bits before anyone gets round to fitting a stainless system.
