  Monaro VXR/Cupra TDi
Thinking about replacing my clutch as some point in the near future. Does anybody know what performance clutches are available/where to buy/cost?

Thanks.:)

second that! you are wasting your money as you will be stalling in traffic and at the lights due to the harder springs in the clutch plate. also wears out the clutch cable quicker. lots of slipping the clutch to get away cleanly.

Not worth it unless you racing/tracking

Mine failed on the motorway, so i paid out for a helix group n clutch (may as well eh!) much better feel and has taken a huge beating over 3 years its been in!

I'm well aware of pitfalls of a dual of triple plate item even splinter clutches. I'm not interested in one of those for such reasons.

I'm looking to uprgrading to something with better longevity. I think the standard item isn't strong enough. No side stepping has been performed. Just a few hard launches from 1st up through the gears.

Is the Helix group n clutch an organic/fast road item? Easy to live with i.e. plate springs not hard? Expensive item to purchase?

Thanks.

Should'nt have mentioned the launches. People might remember that when you've got it for sale on here in a couple of months.

There is nothing wrong with the standard clutch. Iv done nearly 100k with just short of 200bhp for most of the cars life and only on its second one which is no where near worn.

Like stated, its overkill unless your gonna be abusing it by running big bhp on it

Well I've owned my 182 Cup for nearly a month, now on 17,700 miles and I'm sure that within the next 10K it'll need a new clutch. Perhaps my shifting can be a little unsympathetic at times. This is why I was asking about uprated clutches as I don't want to replace with the Renault item as I know it won't last. I'll kill it within 5K.

You should get at least 60k out of it unless your drag racing every weekend

I seem to kill clutches due to trying to get the quickest time from standstill. It's gotta be the change from 1st to 2nd. This has happened on my two of my previous cars, Lotus Elise and Honda Integra Type R. I don't practice hard launches all the time but when I do I make sure I get the most from car.

I wondered if AP do a fast road clutch? Used one in my Integra. Lasted about 25K. That's good for me.

how do u know if its going? it slips etc?

The biting point is becoming further towards the top of the pedal. Also when up through the transmission the bitting point is felt less so when engaging the next gear. Eventually there won't be a biting point, and slipping will occur.
