Peoples 1/4 Mile Times

Car  Clio 172 Cup
Hey guys!

Just took my clio to a drag event and managed to get top in the 14.30 class with a 14.32 @ 90 mph.

Modifications are:
Ktec intake
decat stainless exhaust
RS Tuner 98 RON map

Sorry for the shaky video, my little brother isn't the best at holding cameras :)

What times have you all managed?

Cheers!!

You were bracket racing??

What do you mean by bracket racing?

Cars were put into different classes based on their times. I was in the 14.30 class, which means cars between 15.30 and 14.30 second runs are in that class. The classes on the day were 15.30, 14.30, 13.30..... all the way down to a 9.30 (only 1 car in that class lol)

The bikes went down to an 8.10 because there was a turbo Hyabusa.

So classes are based on results, very odd.
IIRC Bracket racing is where you do a bench mark run and the winner is the closest to match their own bench mark.

Yea with bracket racing you can all race together, no need to separate into different time classes.
The only classes you might use for separation would be stuff like Amateur, semi-pro, pro or something similar.

You can bracket race a 1 litre polo against a proper drag car if you wanted, it's not about who runs fastest.

I've done a 15.4 at 86mph or some jazz like that in the past.

I think if I gave my current 5gtt to one of the guys who know there shizzle, they would get it in the mid 12's very easily on drag tyres.. I however haven't got the skill or know how to spend the hours, days, weeks, months test and tuning it..

I was racing against all sorts, you didn't have to race against anyone in your class until the finals :)

I'm looking to do a few runs at pod next year, hopefully be in the 11's

I might be going to Santa Pod for a RWYB day on the 1st of October (hopefully), I'm hoping to get into the 14's if possible.

At Shakey my best time was a 15.1 in the Clio. The spec was as follows:

K-Tec Panel filter
Custom exhaust system bar stock silencer.
Quantum Remap

At the time I think my car had a rattling dephaser pulley as well.

My RST went .1 of a second faster down Santa Pod. Laughable when you consider:
it has 225BHP
Leda coilovers
Nankang NS-2R coilovers (it has helped the traction issue, but not alot).
Lighter by quite a way (I think its less than 900kg stock and I have no interior).

But is it "Ford world" 225bhp or real world 225? Ford scene is terrible for over inflated power figures. To be fair though rst's struggle to get any power down and its all or nothing with the crappy old cvh lump.

A true 225 ;). I have had my Clio and others on the same dyno as well:

The engine is not massively stock, being a 1.8 ZVH with other go go faster bits.

Despite my patience it spun up in 2nd gear, but it is not massively different on the road. I reckon it is lacking an LSD TBH.

Yeah mate get a S2 box in it should make a big difference

Went to Crail with the Vee last year and managed a best time of 14.318@97.8 mph (60' time was 2.162).

I'm planning on running the 182 Turbo there on 27th Sept and will be interesting to see how it goes.

14.5 @ 95mph in clio 172
15.3 @ 92mph in clio 197
12.9 @ 115mph in focus RS mk1
In comparison to the 197 i hit 91mph in 8.6 seconds lol

Yeh i ran it standard and it was slower than my 172, think i ran a 14.8 or something.
Focus is 411bhp, struggled with grip pretty bad spun all through 1st and 2nd even trying to balance the throttle. Sticky tyres i think it will do low 12s.
What sort of power is your clio running? Must be some good boost to keep with an M5

260hp per tonne Clio, 295 per tonne m5, it didn't really go anywhere tbh.

My Clio is 279hp.

Ran the 182 Turbo at Crail yesterday and managed a best run of 14.33@101.1 mph. Still getting used to the car and getting it off the line was tricky but also ran on normal road tyre pressures so didn't do myself any favours there.

Saw another couple of Clio's there with one putting in a 14.58@95.5 mph and seemed to go well.

Class results (up to 2,000cc Turbo) as follows:

I did a 14.61 last week, my clio is low blow turbo 230bhp.

I was running road tyres road pressures and had a toolbox in the back
