Performance Cams from K-Tec

Has anyone on here got performance cams supplied and fitted from k-tec.
Was thinking about going for it when my cambelt change is due as it would save time and money getting them done at the same time

I've already been quoted a price including VAT & fitting on the following:

Aux belt & tensioners
Cambelt Kit
Performance Cams (keeping VVT setup)
Group N ecu remap.

The cost of all this i estimated at £1800.
I got quoted less that that from K-tec which I thought was a bonus :D

yes i know its a trek but i have family down there and was gonna be visiting them around march time so it wouldn't be out my way

yeah would be nice to know more about what your getting for the 700 quid . I ask as the decription describes what i was thinking to expect from some of the catcam's as they seem to pride them selves on high lift short duration , so i think there cams that can run on standard ecu the group n (420 ) there 421 i think prob simmer to whats been recently put in the clio in the performance frech car magazine and the harshist of them the 428.
But from long duration cams you tend to increase upper power limmit but loose torque low down and does not do the drivability or idle of the engine much good , with the high lift short duration , in theory just get to the full lift position faster and higher to get better flow for something not too disimmaler to the normal opening times , giving better breathing all over the range giving better torque and power. but not as good a peak power increase if you went for long duration .

is worth a read through the website here are the cams and duration and lift info at the bottom

would be intresting to know what the k tec ones are though as i think they are alittle bit cheaper!

All of the cams from the 420's up would need a remap. Personnally I'd reccommend the 428's as they are the most aggressive you can get without idling issues

they work exactly the same way and are made from the same materials so it just depends on the profile you want. Both offer a fair range of profiles so just decide how aggressive you want them to be and buy from the cheaper place. CatCams are usually cheaper than Shrick on most applications.
