Ph1 172 engine in a Ph2 172

Quick question.

Ph2 172 has a cracked Block.
Have sourced a Ph1 172 engine.

I know the ph1 has a cable throttle, but I could use the FBW components from the Ph2 to convert it? Is it easy enough?

Off to look at it today, so any help ASAP would be grand.

Excellent.
So all I have to do is replace the Inlet and plenum (with ph2 bits) and we're off?
The loom is still in the engine bay, as the ph1 is going in the ph2, so shouldn't need to take the ph1 loom from the scrappers too?
Cheers

I am in the same shoes as you Donny, bought myself a good ph 1 f4r 730 engine and waiting for renault to rebuild it with few new parts (worth changing while engine is out) and to fit it to my ph2 172.

If u have ph2 loom, no need for a ph1 one.

Inlet is the interchangeable bit for ph1 and ph2 172 and 182 (may differ performancewise). Take it off your ph2 lump.

Plenum is different. Take it off your ph2 lump along with your FBW throttle body. As far as I know ph1 and ph2 share the same dialogys engine head number so rocker covers should be identical on both. The same goes for breather boxes. No reason then why a ph2 plenum wouldn't fit ph1 head.

So basically this should not be a complicated conversion, but just a straight bolt-on job.

If you are ordering a cambelt set for make sure you order a ph1 set. Difference between ph1 and ph2 is in the lower tensioner.

Ph1 (cb0m) f4r 730:

Cambelt set: 77 01 476 674

Lower tensioner: 77 00 107 150 (inner circumference = 10.22)
Lower tensioner distancer: 77 00 116 015
Lower tensioner bolt: 77 03 002 969 (bolt length = 55)

Ph2 (cb1n) f4r 736:

Cambelt set: 77 01 476 675

Lower tensioner: 82 00 064 64 (inner circumference = 17)
Lower tensioner distancer: 82 00 607 646
Lower tensioner bolt: 82 00 648 635 (bolt length = 50)

I have a new cambelt set for ph2, and to fit it to a ph1 engine my mechanic will just the lower tensioner bolt from my ph2 block, so that I would have to pay for a new distancer and tensioner ment for ph1.

If there are any things different between the two types other than these, please somebody let me know.

Thanks for the info mate, superb.
I am doing the cambelt whilst the ph1 engine is out too, so that info is even more valuable! Much appreciated.
Dog.
