ph1 172 Faults? List please!

Hey guys, i have had a few niggly problems with the 172 since i bought it, i would probaly put it down to neglect from the previous owner.

Anyway so far things ive had to get fixed are>

1. Bearings in the Rear (not quite sure what ones)
2. Front nearside bearing
3. Electric Window Motor,runners,clips and bracket


Can everyone that has a Phase 1 list the faults or potential faults to look out for. Im determined to have it perfect!!!!!:S
 
  53 Clio's & counting
um right faults with mine..... broken rear coil spring...um iv replaced the n/s window reg...idle control valve....um thats it lol (after 114k)

my experience

1) exhaust rotting along with brackets
2) cambelt wearing to death at the 5yr point
3) rear brakes being expensive
4) some electrical faults - though not had many in my exp
5) seat mechanisms not working properly on the recliner side of things
6) rattles in door/win regulators
7) some people have probs with temp sensor
8) engine/gearbox mounts (think this was more ph2 though?)

Rob that sounds about spot on, the regulator has actualy just failed on the drivers side so i can strike that off the list lol

fan belt tensioner went on mine a month after i got it and it had only done 40K nice 358 quid bill and that wasnt from renault! allong with rattles in the door found out it is the electric window switches rattling! o and rear door cards if the speakers r too loud rattle grrr!

Tensioner should have been changed at 32k anyway so if it wasn't thats probably why is failed.

So far in 4 months of ownership Ive had:

1) Aux belt, pulley and tensioner as the previous owner didnt get the tensioners and pulley changed just the belt. £120 as I changed them all myself.
2) One of the wheel bearings needs replacing, I'm pretty sure its the rear so that another £150 for disks and bearings etc.
3)Gearbox got a bit clunky so I got new oil at 72k

Apart from that ive just had to cover general wear and tear such as new pads all round, front disks, oil change every 6,000 and 4 new tyres.

Had both rear wheel bearings replaced on mine and a new exhaust but it's been cheap to keep going for the level of performance compared to other cars I've had
