Ph1 172 Speedo fault

Just trying to iron out a couple of niggles with my new car.

The speedo needle will 'jump' up to higher speeds when you put your foot down around 50+ mph.

For example, if you accelerate hard, as the speed increases, when your at around 55 the needle will take off and jump to 80 and waver around a bit. Doesnt do this at lower speeds.

Is this just a speedo sensor on the gearbox which needs swapping?

i put a new one in mine. The sensor is about £22 from Renault.

Remove the engine cover and you can access it from down the back. Its just to the right of the exhaust with a cover over it to stop it melting.

This is the first thing to try.
