Ph1 172 Throttle Body Issue

Hi folks,

I've recently bought a Clio 172 and the Throttle Body started to cause some bother.

It seems to be sticking.
I changed the cable and I thought that fixed things but seems not. It revs up but doesn't want to come back down, pulling the pedal out brings the revs back down. I've heard that there's a Spider Washer (I think) that can be at fault?
Seemingly it's a new Throttle Body (new to the car I think)?
Any ideas on how to fix it? I'm not too familar with these cars so any help would be greatly appreciated!

I've been dealing with similar issues on my Ph1 172. Lots of threads on this

First step is giving the throttle spring a really good clean - lots of throttle body cleaner and then lubricating it with PTFE dry lubricant. You can also see if the circlip that holds the shaft (behind the TPS) is loose - some people have had success with that. When my car warms up, the throttle sticks at around 1.5-2k rpm, but instantly drops to idle when I release the clutch, so I could have a bad TPS.

That said, these throttle bodies are likely just worn out and there's no easy fix. There we some people rebuilding them with larger butterflies (60>64mm) and a French company that makes a whole new billet cable TB (but very expensive). I also bought another one from Renomotive and it suffered from similar issues, but I at least have a spare to play around with now.
