Phase 1 172 exhausts HELP!

Alright folks,

I know this has been discussed before but I cant really find any definative answers.

My standard system has now seen better days and is blowing pretty badly at the centre section.

Its starting to affect my MPG so I'll need to do something about this sooner rather than later.

What are my options?? A standard system from renault seems pretty expensive!

Ideally I want a stainless system just because the standard system only seems to last a few years and as ive said before seems expensive for what it is.

I like the look of the ktec stealth (what are the differences between the Mk1 and the Mk2??)

I would go for a recessed exhaust from ktec too but again there are two different models (supersports and normal??))

What can people reccommend? I dont want it to be too loud!!
Cheers much!!!

I have a ktec stealth, avoid. I'll post pics up later, bit it hangs very low. Badly designed for the ph1, I don't think they took the smaller rear bumper into account. Yozza stealth is very good quality and quiet.

That's with a jack pushing the exhaust up as far as it will go.

The mid section is only available from renault, none of the exhaust places sell them. The only other option is a cat back system and they are expensive and not always a good fit. Demon Tweeks will make a system up but again you get what you pay for.

The stealth is quite loud. It`s a lot louder then I expected.
It takes some time to get used to;)

As said it`s a bit to low for the ph1 bumper but I don`t mind.

This is how it looks on my ph1:

Mine was like that until I replaced the pikie Ktec centre hanger I'd bought for an OE one from Renault and fucked about with the bracket on the backbox and forced it to sit up as high as possible. Can't see it from behind anymore unless you duck down, if I can be arsed later I'll grab a picture...might even try and describe how I got it sitting higher in a way that might actually help instead of just being a confused jumble of words thrown together lol.

Fellas, Once again thanks for the input! Without it I would have probs went out and spent my cash on a ktec stealth. Now I'll have to seriously consider looking elsewhere. Chris mate, yours looks spot on and if I could get it looking like that then I would be happy with the ktec. But if as Sym0n says its a lot of hassle then I might go fo a yozza or something like that!

Decisions Decisions!

P.S. Does anyone know what the inside of the standard middle section looks like?? (i.e. just a straight pipe with baffles??) Id go at the shape of it now to try get some sort of idea but its dark!

I could poss just get my local exhaust specialists to copy it!??

I ordered new OE Renault exhaust hangers as well. And it wasn`t a problem to get it as its sits now.
You make sure your car is on a ramp or something. That way you can easily play with the brackets to get it as high as this.
There is about 1cm between the backbox and the heatshield. So it`s a thight fit, but I have no problems so far:approve:
