Phone Screen Replacement

Dropped my phone this morning, cracked the front, really pissed off.

It's only cracked the glass, the screen under it is fine. It's an iPhone 14 Pro, which turns out has a super expensive screen, £350 from Apple and outside of apple you'll get potentially a bad screen and annoying messages apparently.

I've seen these services however, and wondered if anyone has used them - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/266947987232

Basically send your phone to a dodgy house in Birmingham and hope they send it back with new glass. Wondered if they are legit or if these new front glass pieces look odd/effect touch screen/show glue etc?

Other option is Mazuma the phone for £190 and buy a new one, but phones cost so much these days it seems.

Apple are funny with screen replacements and don’t like 3rd party repairs. They usually deactivate features such as True Tone and potentially Face ID too. It’ll be a PITA.

I’d do as @Brookie. says above.

Shouldn't be detectable by Apple as it's just the glass in front which is changed!

I'm too scared of prison to commit some light fraud, plus my bank doesn't offer it 🤣

How far away from Meadowhall are you? There’s a company called iSmash that will change it for £149 within the hour and comes with warranty.

iSmash is £199 and would have the non genuine messages popping up I think

I've found someone local (and recommended) who will do the same repair as Birmingham but it's £150, tempted to just do that.

I've also been offered £300 for it now as it is, but a 16 pro is £1100 and it won't be any different day to day. Man maths though, £300 for mine, £350 saving not buying an Apple screen, so it's only £450 for a new phone really...
