photoshop help please

just got photoshop 7.0, just playing around on it learning how to use it, but when ive got a pictuse of a car, and i lower it, how do i fill it the gap, currently i am using 'lasoo' tool, highlighting the edge of the car then moving it down, and am being left with a white patch where the image has moved!

help anyone!?

Just crop it, if you're learning its abit too much to be able to match the background.

Sooo Ctrl + Shift + E flattens the layers, then Ctrl + T, make your box, Ctrl + X, New layer, Ctrl + V, Delete old layer!

or

If you just want to add colour the background, its just because youve moved it and the colour underneath was white.

Make a new layer Edit > Fill. Fill it with your chosen colour and then delete the white from your other layer by selecting and pressing delete and then the colour underneath will show through.
