Pilot Sport 3 Alternatives?

I'm getting two F1 Aysemeytric 2's for 74 each fitted. I have 2 PS3's on the front with about 70% tread (from new to legal limit), should I put the new tyres on the front and have PS3's at the back?
I find the F1's have a soft sidewall and a softer compound compared to the PS3's so me personally would throw the F1's on the rear.

Did you spec the XL`s (Xtra Load) with firmer sidewall`s?
195`s look stretched & undersize IMO,205`s look the proper fitment.

Yeah just got back from them being fitted, not to sure at the mo on the 205,i thought would be better as i think 195 width wish looks to narrow.got the 205's on the rear & 195 on the front.Feels the arch more tho,no didnt get xl i dont think.

I have the Evo V12's on mine, they have the XL and feel much better than the P nero zero, that i had on the front

The pzero in Clio fitment are a completely different tyre to what is fitted to the ferraris etc

I had pzero on the Clio and rated them dry and wet then switched to PS3, they is night and day difference

The PS3 is the best all round tyre I've used, be it in torrential rain, damp, dry
And track!

They wear a hell of a lot better than the pzero aswell - which drop to pieces once they get hot
There is 2 types pzero nero and pzero nero gt the old version were factory fitted on the fiesta st so quite old now.

it's that soft sidewall what makes the F1 assy2's so good in the wet. Didn't like them at all in dry. Swapped to Dunlop Sport maxx RT and they are superb in the dry (better than PS3) and very good in the wet. None of these two last more than the ps3... so yeah ps3 is the best all rounder.

the V12 is an OK tyre, they don't have massive levels of grip but give good feeling and enjoyable handling. Also too noisy.
I would love to try the pZero's one day... I've heard mixed opinions and now I'm curious

True about the sidewall and the wet on the goodyear. Too soft for me in the dry too.
What is the sidewall like on the sport maxx RT? ,don't care about the wear.

Without even looking at reviews the basic EU ratings say they are 'C' for wet grip - not a great alternative.

Ignore the EU ratings ; they are useless. Basically, the ratings are performed by the manufacturer, thus I could have a mediocre control tyre to pitch other tyres against. It's pretty misleading really...

Await the Brexit comments LOL.

OP, just get some Rainsport 3's, best all-round tyre on the market in terms of cost, dry grip, wet grip (awesome), wear etc...

I had these on my Clio 172 in 15" format and if I am honest I had mixed feelings. I went from Turinis with 195/45 Conti CS3s up front to 15s, both on Toyos T1-Rs and RS3s.

IMO the CS3s were superb on the dry stuff. In the wet stuff they needed warming up oddly enough as I found at Cadwell, but once warm they held on very well, even with 2.5-3mm of tread at a wet Cadwell ; I was genuinely surprised ; I got them with around 4.5mm on them.

The Rainsports IME in 15" are about the best wet tyre you will get ; I have not had a tyre quite as reassuring in the wet, although the Goodyear Asymetric 2s and 3s come very close on my dad's Mondeo 2.5T ; the tyres work well on that car.

Would I buy them? Not again. In the dry however, I could not quite get the speed I wanted out of the Uniroyals, and that is on my sister's Mondeo 2.5T as well as the Clio (the family seems to like the 'sleeper STs' if you believe that). They are not terrible, but not amazing in the dry by a long shot IMO ; my dad's car I can throw around more into the corners with confidence, with the Same applying for the Clio with other tyres. Goodyears will also last longer.

I'd consider the Goodyears again to be honest.

IMO I'd be willing to give the Bridgestone Potenza Adrenalines RE002s a go ; the YouTube known MightCarMods crew seem to love them. Bridgestone have basically released them as a performance tyre for the guys with smaller sizes from around 16" downwards. Over budgets I think MightyCarMods got the times down by a couple of seconds on a GT86 ; I would have been interested to have seen the results against a 'normal' or 'sports' tyre mind you.

I'd say stiffer than GY's. Steering feel does change and the car reacts more immediately to your inputs. Haven't done many miles but they don't seem to wear faster. Actually, I think the shoulders are lasting more than with the GY's!

Try Bridgestone RE050A. I had them on my Cup before I fitted the current PS3s. Excellent tyres, I think even better than PS3 for outright dry grip. I will probably go back to them for my next set.

They were the tyres fitted to the 265 Trophy when it broke the ring record back in the day.

They don't make these in 205/45/16 but do in 195/45/16 but no were has them in stock or I would put these top of the list.

PS4 are out now, and what about Super Sports too?

Currently got the PS4 on the Golf and SS on the 208 - hard to compare being completely different cars but both seem decent and above the previous gen (imo).

Smallest size you can have the PSS is a 17, IIRC.

I have the ps4 on my meg 225 which replaced a set of ps3 on the front. The 4 are much better wet and dry. They feel more sticky to touch too. Wear rate so far must be on par with my 3 but I feel I'm pushing harder at times with the 4 and much more confident taking roundabouts faster. Good luck when there available in the clio sizes don't think anyone will be disappointed
