Pink - Red Tester

Hi guys this is a brief one but my grandads Vauxhall Agila is ment to be Red and its been bugging me for months and months and he visited today so i thought right thats it im having a bash at turning his pink postman pat van into a red one (well just his bonnet for now).

Anyway i started off by doing the norm like cleaning then pre treating the bonnet then whipped out the Kestral and Menz and give the bonnet a good seeing too. OMG it was horrendous didnt take me long tbh and id of the done the whole car if i had time but he wanted to get back home so i left it at the bonnet.

Hi Mike,

What a fantastic 50/50 at the start! Great job.

Having had a string of 90's red cars I suffered with this a lot, although I'm surprised to see it on a 53 plate, which I'd expect to have a 2 layer base / clear paint.

Once you've done the whole car, you'll want to stop it from happening again, so I'd recommend a wax or sealant with great uv protection. Of all the waxes I tried, Zymol carbon was the best.

I've always wondered with these red cars. It's always a vauxhall aswell! How much cut etc would be needed to get away from the fades.

Thanks guys, ill have a look at that wax as i need some more wax anyway. Alex as for "cut" supose it depends on the serverity of the fade, the paints horrendous on the car tho.

good turn around my dad had a red corsa c in and that didnt require much cut tbh we used g10 on the kestral. but i suppose it depends on how bad, the corsa wasnt as bad as that tho.

Well done for taking it on, i would of pointed him in the direction of the nearest polish carwash.

he goes to the polish already lol, biggest reason is because he didnt have time to clean it as he used to look after my nan as she was disabled (3 strokes) so the car wasn't important probably still isn't but i dont want him driving a pink car lol
