pipercross carbon v maxogen

  182 and cherokee 4.0
is the maxogen really worth the extra money compared to the pipercross? what is the difference between them apart from the price?

Ali

  V6, Trackhawk, GTS
I've had experience of both.

Fitment:

Viper is a mess & looks crap. The bracket is flimsey and the feed is a pain in the ass to get down to the grill.

Maxogen took all of 5mins to fit, bolted to the slam panel and the design is bespoke to the car, i ran it without a feed.

Performance and noise:

Viper: Sounded ok, lost 2.3bhp and 4ft/lb torque
Maxogen sounded amazing, power across the curve and a reduced emphasis on the 5k kick.
didn't do a power run before and after, but its just a nicer bit of kit

For the money...No IK is worth it, A panel filter will suffice, but i got mine for penny's so it was worth it's wait in gold.

Weight ;)

Well said though!

A loss of power though jeez thats not good!

Nothing wrong with the airbox really. I suppose you could perhaps drill it but I dont really think there is a need.

  PH1 172 Sport
Just get a cup racer (Espace v6) box and a itg panel or a PH1 172 box and a itg panel. There is a guide to a homemade Maxogen in the guides section though you will have to sign up and be a member.

  Ph1
Also got experience of both and tbh not that much difference performance wise between the 2 (IMO)

Build quality the Maxogen wins hands down. My Viper foam split thats the only reason i changed it.
Performance wise, pulled really well with the Viper, much better than the standard ph1 airbox set up.
Maxogen pulls slightly better further up the rev range but no great shakes over the Viper i felt.

Noise, Viper made a far deeper roar (air feed pointing not connected), Maxogen is almost silent.

LOL at these comments on air filters , is it power you gadgies are after or what? Tuning to me is balls out or nothing at all. ''my Viper foam split and i lost a millionth of one bhp'' What a big Jessie. lol

Have you been reading tuning for fukwits or something?? :clown:

Open ended IK, split foam equals road dirt inside engine equals bye bye engine ... :clown:

Might be ok for you but i aint gonna balls about running a split IK having spent X amount of K's on engine work

**oh and by the way. You'd probably gain power not lose it (less restriction) clown

BY all means protect your mill with good filtration. It's all the stuff about comparative power gains from the ik's that crack me up.

zip it mr "i've got 240bhp" ;)

tell you what i'll redo the test out my own pocket just to shut you all up!

203.8bhp @ the wheels
163.6lbs/ft @ the wheels (similar to the Cup but with milder cams and totally standard engine isn't it? ;))

hey, I wasn't operating the RR... but now I think about it I'm sure he said a Clio had come in for some runs and it had a Viper, decat and Peco Big Bore 7 system and it was 80bhp up on stock

What's your next tuning project then Jesus, still going ahead with the new AP bodies, or has the new mortgage blown that out of the water? lol

lol, well I've got 20 years to pay for the house, car wants stuff doing now though... it doesn't like being standard and I dont like driving it standard... it's depressingly s**t slow lol

  178hp 172 Cup
i cannot talk about the Viper but i hav a Maxogen!! i gotta admit i never got the car dyno's b4 but with the Maxogen and a full exhaust system and de cat the cup runs over 178hp!! so defo not a drop in power there!! however i am still not convinced its better than a ITG Panel with a decent CAF which is what i had b4 the Maxogen!!!

Pity you never got a dyno run on its standard spec. My uncle has one on his cup and reckons with his other mods it is really ace.

  Lionel Richie
i was just about to say you're mad spending £400 on an airfilter, but then my "induction kit" cost about £7k LOL oops ;)

M

mini-valver

He has a shoebox covered in carbon fibre film from Tweeks on top of his throttle bodys.......................;)
