Plastic underlining protection

I've just scraped/caught the plastic underling protection (beneath the engine) and it's pulled off a bit which means its hanging slightly.

It looks like it's just held in with a screw. Does this need to be on the car or is it worth me taking it off?

You can take it off :)

Its only there to stop much from coming thru, but it still seems to creep past anyways.

Most people have them off.

Thanks Has.

Does it prevent the engine from corroding. I'm in doubt's whether to take it off or not. Also doesn't the arch liners screw into it?

You can just remove it my mates along with many others don't even have one. Its supposed to be there to help with high speed stability protection of the engine etc but its no huge problems not having one.
