My better half is constantly on to me saying noone else pays these costs (cambelt, aux belt, services and all the other maintainance) on these cars, please send her some reassurance by any means possible, pictures of bollocksed up engines where cars have not been cared for ect! She thinks because her mother does not service her car on a regular basis (1.25 fiesta zetec) that I don't have to either. Please people show her the way. I tell he constantly that if I don't do this and that to my cars when they are supposed to be done, that in the long run ruther and more expensive costings will incure!

I knew the 172cup was due a 36k service, (done) cambelt in January 09 which is done, tax at end of July. But I took this into account and had the 172cup £1000 cheaper than the guy was asking for it. So that has already been accounted for. It's not as if it is in any way putting us out of pocket. Shes just a tight arse!

And I sold my 197 cup for £12400. I bought the 172cup for £6000, banked £6400 and told her that around £500-600 quid was going on service/ small maintainance costs! How can she complain with that for god sake!
I have already bent over backwards by selling the car I feel!

Women just don't understand (apart from a select few). My housemates all female didn't believe me when I said my car service was £230. Its not like a washing machine you do have to maintain it, they didn't even know you had to service a car. Obviously there always right so I just don't argue!

my brother didn't replace the cambelt at the recommended service. that later cost him £1400 on new valves, cambelt etc because he didn't replace it when it needed doing

Well to date I have spent £520 in a month of ownership just putting my personal touch on it, getting it right so I am happy. I am yet to tell her when I am doen GDI on Thursday I am also considering new rear disks and pads allround . Kick in the b****cks for me! Oh and I spent £110 on two new front tyres! I didn't really have to change them, I must admit it was pretty pointless, BUT, I have the two I took off and there is about 5mm of tread on them, they were just slightly more worn on the outside of the tyre due to previous owner's underinflation
