Pocket point and shoot - suggestions/opinions etc?

Hi gang,

The OH is looking for a point and shoot. She has a couple of DSLRs so it's not to replace those, but does mean she's good at photography/knows a good shot.

So far, in the runnings, we've looked at the FinePix 770EXR, Panasonic Lumix TZ20 and the Canon power shot S220.

Reviews have been read, cameras played with in the shop, of course - but any others to consider? Views?

Thanks all.

Ixus 230hs is a great little camera for just over £100. Was genuinely impressed with its detail and low light ability.

gopro hero2, works as a camera and is mega compact and then you can use it for trackdays too, although its probably a bit dear (350 ish including the preview screen)

GoPros are a cracking bit of kit, but they can't even begin to be compared with a proper camera.

Of course not, but she already has proper cameras by the sounds of it.
Gopro works well enough for if its to take on a night out etc, mind you that said so does a phone TBH, I cant really see the point in compact cameras anymore, SLR for proper stuff, phone or gopro for everything else.

But it some cases, an SLR will be too big. With a P+S, you get so many more options than a gopro, including the basics like zoom.

iv a TZ7 to go with my 500d and its a cracking camera mate. With the new TZ20 out my money would be on that.

Thanks all, so far.

GoPro, too expensive and not good enough quality. The debate/key point here is size. Yes, my 4S is a decent camera, but nothing like as good as the ones mentioned in the OP. GoPro the same. They may be useful for track days but that's not what I'm interested in (but can understand you posting it Chip).
