Phone your insurance company about the rebate.
I think you have to send your licence off to DVLA after 3 years to get them removed but they stay on your record for a further year. f**k knows why?

3 points stay on your license for three years

Your insurance class them as 5 years, its just a way to screw you out of more money

it depends on your insurer some class as 3 some class as 5 years
i sincerely doubt that they will give a refund on the points as its classed as that year.

Hi All,
I was told the points are declared for 5 years due to the rehabilitation of offenders act (Spelling?) My mate did try to explain properly but I fell asleep half way through lol

Rich :)

They count for 3 years, can come off the licence after 4 years, and need to be declared to insurance for 5 years.

You don't have to send your licence off for them to be removed, unless you don't want them written on the paper part.

I doubt your insurance company will rebate you any of the premium as when you took out the insurance, the points were valid, as some one else said insurance companies always ask if you have had any points in 5 years, i did a quote recently with and without my 3 points and it was a difference of £13.

I think the points stay valid for 3 years but have to stay on your licence for 4 years then you can apply to have them removed costing £19.

i would say, that your insurance is taken out with the knowledge you give them at the time, obviously your circumstances change, but getting money out of them will be nigh on impossible unlike the other way around. So i doubt you'll get a rebate, your best bet is to insure for a couple of months then cancel and insure elsewhere once the points are off your license.

Still doubt it would be a big enough difference to warrant doing that (would probably cost more in phone calls than to just pay the extra 10 or 20 squiddles)
