Points on my licence - insurance

Right, i recently got 3 points for doing 38mph in a 30 zone.. What kind of increase would i most likely be looking at when i come to renew my insurance? Has anyone else been in a similar situation? Thanks in advance.

Speak to the guys at CIS insurence, they dont penalise you for your first speeding offence. Number is 08457 464646.

My mum had one wiht direct line,a nd it bumped up my insurence, whihc was in her name by £120, and hers by about £50, that was wiht direct line.

yeah most companys dont bother with minor first offences, Dont tell them till you renew tho! (just in case)

What do you get for going through a red light and getting flashed. can i protest seeing as it was amber when i jumped though because the guy bhind me was comming off the motorway and was locked up!!!!

Hence me popping over the line.

sorry dude

you have no proof that locked up bloke was gonna hit u

same as if a blind person cuts u up, you swerve and crash........its ur fault untill theres contact

i went through a GATSO doing 45 in a 30!

I was dead lucky though, as I was on my Bike and my front wheel was 6" in the air:devilish:.

Got a fixed penalty - no premium increase with Direct line

Good form that man!!!

never got caught running a light before

enayeseekay - try getting a reasonable quote for 20 points and a subsiquent ban, my driving history has been rather colourful, and of course u pay for it in the end.

In my experience, between 3 and 6 points doesnt affect your premium at all, although I imagine if I was 18 the story might be a bit different. Plus 3 points for speeding SP30 or like Ive got TS10 jumping a red light arent really considered major problems these days. Ben - everyone who gets a TS10 for jumping a red light has exactly the same excuse and it never works, mainly cos as weight said, youve got no proof of someone pushing you along. Almost everytime I can think of where I or my wife have gone through a red, it was orange until the second we went through, and someone was really close at the back.

Getting dangerous or drunken driving on your record can really mess up your insurance, speeding doesnt really raise any eyebrows any more.

20 points is very impressive/bad, I racked up a DD40 and it cost me A LOT, 3 points didnt change my insurance though. Got fined 60 quid for 75 in a 60, thought all speeding fines were 60 now?

yeah i have 6 points sp30 and sp60 and no change to my policy. Infact Liverpool victoria dont wanna know if you have points, they are just concerned with bans.

sorry for being law abiding and not knowing what all these codes are but what does SP30, SP60, TS10, DD40 all mean please?

sp30 - exceeding speed limit - TS10= red light.

do an online quote and when u list ur points they have all the codes and what they mean

Ive got 3 points and it had no effect - half the population must have them by now!!!!! Altho. the Cliosort Website survey was only about 17%.

Got caught at 41 in a 30 on a racing bike also - cant touch my licence tho.

BUT couldve been done with "furious riding" under an 1820 Highway Carriage Act -wtf!

dont worry about it. an SP30 usually costs about £30. Its only a minor offence. Drink driving/going through a red light will see a big difference though.

Red light is 3 points and a £60 pound fine! Trust me i got pulled for going through an amber (Which the police said was red!) light the other week. Let me off though when i argued it was amber:D

Dont worry, I got done doing 56 in a 30 and it never affected me in anyway and I was 19. Just avoid the claims!!!!

ive got 6 points for driving without insurance (even though i had insurance - long story) so im not looking forward to my renewal as im pretty sure this is gonna puy it sky high!

I would have had 4years no claims come May but my little bump on Friday has seen to that, do they take all your n/c away? will this years not count? ive not got a clue.
