Polarised nuts rusting/oxidising????

now I am not 100% on this but I am sure that polarising the nut to give it a desired finish should add protection against water no?

nearly at two weeks since I have fitted my polarised nuts and they are covered in rust :S (not the rust you would see on an old cortina mind) I mean the rust that is bright orange to show that it is being oxidised pretty rapidly.....

should I be asking for a replacement or are these going to be prone to rust? (yes I expect bare metal to oxidise when in contact with water but it has only rained twice in the 2 weeks, and these shouldnt rust that fast surely with them not being bare metal?)

:dapprove:

I will upload pics later to show people how bad it is...

would just like a quick confirmation really, not here to blame anyone or anything, just want it sorting either way so they stay looking nice...

Does it wipe off?? Could it be surface rust created by brake dust?

its hard to explain but its mainly in the hole at the end of the nuts and little bits on the outside

asif the inside of the nut is oxidising rapidly and the outside may be just setting in where there are imperfections, noticed it when getting out of the car to find the nuts had thrown the stuff about the rim of the wheel

right so no pics as its dark so I will have to take some tomorrow morning, but the rust is actually rust underneath the surface orange....

so the orange oxidation wiped off but the rust underneath is actually set in the metal, mainly on the inside of the end of the bolt, and at little bits on the outside of the nuts...

so it is definitely rust :/

I've had mine on for well over a year could be closer to two years now and the only issue I have is the locking nuts are slightly rusting.

:( They look so good though!

Shame if it is actual rust...

There anything RareRims can do? surely the fact they're anodized/polarized means that shouldn't rust? :/

I know!

I'm going to give them a good wash when I get chance and hope that they come up okay....

as for rarerims doing something I'll have to get in touch with them, was really after confirmation that I would be reasonable expecting a replacement etc....

I figured this should be the case mate...

Maybe a faulty batch. You should phone up whoever supplied them and ask what the score is with corrosion on them.
