polished wheel help

  ph1-172
hi, bit of a noob in the world of cleaning cars  but i've just bought a set of compomotive th mono's, their polished but not laquered so was thinking of polishing them up and then giveing them a layer of rim wax?

is this a bad idea on bare metal? their in really good condition atm but dont wanna ruin them.

cheers gareth

are they not painted at all? bare metal? sounds strange. Polishing would be fine in this case obviously, but wouldn't do much. What metal are they?

Just use a bit of metal polish to keep them clean every now and then. You could try some form of sealant on them (poorboys wheel sealant is good), but not sure how well it will work compared on top of paint. so long as you wash them regularily they'll be fine.

I got my toplines polished up but left bare too.

Got told to use a rim wax (mothers metal polish, 3 layers min.) then seal with Jetseal 109, atleast 3 layers too. One word of advice, every week, wipe them down with a dry cloth and then in 2-3 weeks put the wax and sealant back in in the same process. I was trying to be a hero and left mine over winter with no protection, i've got to polish them back up now :(

Gives it a s**t finish, and you'll get lacquer lift pretty quickly which is the last thing you want
