poor willy

  astra coupe 2.2

been a mad few days for the willilams ....... thursday the cluctch cable snapped, not a prob, got fixed for £98 (!) then when i got the report the garage charged £15 for the cable and the rest was labour wtf!.. on the print on it mentioned the battery goes flat.... news to me... and the clutch is heavy. i asked what they meant by heavy and the guy was like - you need a new clutch! i pray to god that he is trying to pull a fast one.

sunday i developed a grinding noise from the passenger side suspesion, and looking today i have a lump broken off from the spring, great :+( been ringing round garages all day to be told that its a main dealer part, roughly £90 each. i feel its testing me now and considering selling it when repaired. its doing my head in!!!!! the idea of owning an FTO is shining brighter in my eyes.

Ouch - I havent had anything go wrong except the first week I got the car - I am waiting for everything to happen at once as it always does. Everything is so expensive on them that it does make you want to sell it.

I agree on the FTO - dont got for less than the V6 - I know someone with one and for fear of starting a argument on how fast they are I will say no more;)

got a clutch cable supplied and fitted on my RT for £40, wouldnt have thought a williams would be much more. think its the magic williams word effect. doubles the price instantly.

If you go FTO definately get V6 GPX and dont get tiptronic box. The manuals out perform them by quite a bit and if a tiptronic box dies on you, your gonna need at least £2500 for another one to be fitted.

Still think your williams is too expensive?

An FTO is the best car I have ever driven btw. Its like your brain is plugged in to every moving part. So precise!

LOL hanging out there was it LOL

how hard is it to get to the clutch cable then, and your porpbabley find theres a bit more engine in the way then there would be in a 1.4

Also make sure you get a GPX with a MIVEC engine. Actually check it has and dont just take the owners word for it.

shouldnt matter how much engine is in the way. the cable feeds through a housing that you slide in from the pedal end and it automatically pops out at the clutch end.
