Possible engines that fit in a mk1

Car  Clio Biarritz, mk1 1998
hi, i have a 1998 mk1 clio, and was wondering if anyone knows any possible engines that can be droped into the mk1- (other than the williams engines) maybe renault 19s/megans/Laguna engines?

thanks, its just williams engines are very hard to get hold of!

Use a megane F7R engine. has a better head than the Williams lump apparenlty.....

wouldnt bother looking for another renault lump to fit as they arent usualy a straight swap.

F7R/F7P engines should sit straight in (willy and valver)
Hybrid engine (F7R from a 2L meggy etc with a valver head)
R5 turbo should work
Volvo 1.7T
Vag 1.8 (would need more work)
172 engine (needs more work)

pretty much anything depending on the work/skill you want to do, valver lumps are easy to come by (F7R's are a bit harder but can be found)

Willy head flows better than the Megane engine as standard, the Megane engine just has better port shapes for ITB's, the Willy ones are too big. I'd use a Megane BE though as they are newer and usually lower miled and less abused.
