Pottential 197 Owner

  Citroen c2 Vtr
Hello there I'm really interested in the 197 So much so I'm going to test drive it tomorrow.

Its up for £11,995.00 with 12,800 on the clock. Is this about the right price and would it be worth Knocking them down abit?

i have a Citroen c2 with 20k miles on the clock to either be sold privately or whether they give me a good price then that would also go towards it.

Thanks in advance

Craig.:)

Nimbus is the colour, its a very light grey/silver. I think thats the same basic options my bro has. It was from motorpoint, I would try and knock them down to 11k

yea would be looking at about that sort of price.

Would be hoping they would give me a good price on the Vtr also.

thats the standard spec.

does this car not have any extras?

personally, i reckon at that price with that mileage u may be better off buying new if u can stretch it.

seen standard 197s bein pushed out at just under £14k

I cant realy strecch to that much was looking about 11k tbh. So this just matches my bill nicely.

It has alot more bits on it than what my c2 had. so all of those seem to be exrtras to me.

The recaro seats would of been nice though.

ah ok.

i dont think you'll get much off that price tbh, but see if u can wrangle a free first service and full tank of petrol, and stuff like upgraded AA cover with it.

also, wouldn't worry too much abt recaros.

i have them in my R27, and whilst they look great, i think the standard seats do just as good a job of holdin u in place.

plus, if u ever have to ferry "more mature" people about, they can sometimes have trouble gettin in and out! Then u worry about whether they'll scrape and cause the side bolster stitching to fray......

Around 30mpg cruising at 85 on the motorway with the cruise control on...

The Vee'll do that :p But to be honest - if you care about MPG, hot hatches aren't the right cars to be looking at heh.

Re: the thread - I'd be looking to get a bit off that really, assuming it has no options on it at all (except the metallic paint) - unless they offer you a really good price for the C2 I suppose. If you're happy with the deal after the drive, go for it :)

I'm sure I read somewhere the actual change on ratios was really small? Like, so it small it would hardly make a difference....?

Has yours got new gearbox or old one buddy?

Nan matey the old one and it doesn't bother me either.

Check out www.clio197.com bit of a biased look on the 197 but some good info and a lot of good members too...

Probably a theoretical 'geared for' top speed - I'd have thought the only difference it makes in the real world is that it takes longer to get to the top speed heh :)

Ha ha! Yeah i thought the same thing, i find all RS cars to be s**t after 125 anyway. Wouldnt mind driving one with a new gearbox to see what its like. The standard 197 gearbox isnt rubbish anyway, dont no why people **** it off? Much better than the one on the 182 i found. It never drops out of the power band and is much easy to cruise around normally in. V good mid range compared.

Hehe the Vee is just getting nicely into it's stride at 125 ;) Allegedly. If we're honest, there isn't much need for good acceleration above 120mph anyway really these days heh.

Yeah i no, TBH i normally rag it to 100 and thats it, 120 if im alone on a good road now and again. Only ever hit 130 twice in my old 182 and v maxed once. Its just to risky nower days. And your right to be fair, you just cant use that speed on the road. Still would be nice to have it;)
